A narrow pathway leads between tall tumbledown tenement housing in Edinburgh. The buildings have tall rickety chimney stacks and small windows. There is a wheelbarrow inside an entrance way on the left of the scene.

Plainstanes Close in the High Street has had various names having been called after different residents over the years. It was called Plainstanes Close in 1718 to describe the flagstones it was paved with, rather than setts.
