"I thought you were too proud to fight."
"This cartoon has reference to the declaration made by President Wilson following the sinking of the unarmed steamer 'Sussex,' with 325 passengers aboard, on 24 March 1916. About eighty non-combatants of every age and both sexes, including citizens of the United States, were killed or wounded."
