The accompanying text in the volume reads: "Grange Loan, Edinburgh" Grange Loan is located in the Grange area in the south of Edinburgh. It runs from the southern end of Kilgraston Road east to Ratcliffe terrace. It predates the development of the Grange as a residential district by several centuries having been a principal access to the Grange of St Giles, an expanse of agricultural land associated with St Giles Kirk.
