Reproduction
The construction of the East and West docks at the beginning of the 19th century and the establishment of the Leith Docks Commission in 1838 meant that trading activity both increased in general and started to move here from The Shore. At this time traditional sailing ships and new paddle steamers alike used Leith as a port.
