The tenements at Greenside were built between c.1804 and 1817, they were demolished in the early 1960's as part of Edinburgh's slum clearances.
Lawrence Pae, former member of Greenside Youth Club, recalls girls playing puzzles and word games, but boys mostly interested in ball games. He says children would often join different churches so that they could access many different activities run by the different churches.
