Title
Wittenberg
Description
"Christ is rightly here depicted as a thorn-crowned, ageing Christ, whose eyes droop with the burden of men's guilt and woe, while the radiance of his love streams down upon the hideous mound of the victims of human brutality and callous cowardice. Wittenberg is a sinister word throughout Europe, Wittenberg and Gardelegen where, when typhus swept the camps, the German doctors and the guards fled."
