Great Expectations is Dickens' thirteenth novel and was published between 1860 and 1861. It is an epic tale recounting in the first person the life story of Philip Pirrip, better known as Pip.
Uncle Pumplechook is Pip's friend, Joe Gargary's uncle. It is Pumplechook who takes the young Pip to meet Miss Havisham.
