Title
The Robber Barons and Democracy
Description
"The German Barons of olden days earned their living by plundering. They emerged from their Rhineland castles and made rapid forays through the land, bearing back with them the plunder from a peaceful and industrious people. Often they returned with human property, since their morals were never very high. In this cartoon the artist recalls the early origin of the Hohenzollerns' predatory instincts. In this case it is Democracy which has been plundered, and is led back bound and tethered by the imperial freebooters of Potsdam."
