Description

A sketch of an narrow Old Town Edinburgh close. The alley runs along a high wall, beyond which stand a number of flats, tenements and houses. A rounded turret-like structure is prominent next to the close, with highly decorated windows at the top floor.

Second Series. Reproduction of a drawing by Bruce J Home. Date on drawing 1900. Bruce J Home was a topographical artist who lived from 1830 to 1912. He was apprenticed to an Edinburgh lithographer and became curator of the Outlook Tower and the first curator of the Edinburgh Municipal Museum.
