Redford Barracks are situated on Colinton Road and were built for the War Office between 1909 and 1915. The accommodation at the Barracks included infantry and cavalry barracks, offices and training facilities. The Barracks were used to house German prisoners during World War One. In more recent times, performers in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo have often stayed here during their visit.
