The Corstorphine Convalescent Home opened in 1867. It was enlarged in 1893 to a forty bed capacity. Patients were sent here for up to three weeks to fully recuperate. The building still operates as a community hospital providing long-term and respite healthcare services for elderly patients who have suffered a stroke or those with dementia.
