Brewster (1781-1868), physicist and friend to Fox Talbot, who held the patent on the calotype process in England and Wales, played a major role in the introduction of the process into Scotland. It was him, who introduced Adamson's brother to the calotype process and who brought Adamson and Hill together later on.
