Title
The Very Stones Cry Out
Description
"Thou art the man."
"The bombardment of Rheims Cathedral 17 - 19 September 1914.
The Prussian Soul: 'It is beneath our dignity to defend our troops from unjust accusations either from within or from without. Neither we nor our troops owe explanations to anyone. We have nothing to justify and nothing to excuse. All that our troops do to harm the enemy, to bring victory to our flag, all this is justified beforehand and is well done. At least we ought to regard it so. We have not in the slightest degree to concern ourselves with the opinions of other countries, even of neutrals. And if all the monuments, all the chefs d'oeuvre of architecture which come between our cannon and those of the enemy go to the devil, it's all the same to us ... The call us Barbarians. What does it matter? We laugh. - General von Disfurth in Der Tag."
