Edinburgh and Scottish Collection
Morningside was once a village on a main road south from Edinburgh. In the 1850s it was no more than a row of thatched houses and a blacksmith's forge and beyond the Jordan Burn was open countryside. Nowadays it is predominantly residential with a collection of small traditional shops, restaurants, supermarkets, a library and hospitals.
"The Springvalley Heights apartments have been built on the site of the pre WW1 cinema, later to become the Silver Slipper Ballroom (1938)".
