Description
The Montrose Monument in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh. The statue of a man clutching a sword lies across a tomb. An inscription carved in stone is above the figure, within an arched alcove. There are other stone carvings which include heraldic symbols, many of which are tinted gold.

The Montrose Monument is dedicated to Archibald Campbell, the first Marquess of Argyll. He was the de facto ruler of Scotland during the
British Civil War in the 1640s and 1650s. The monument in St. Giles Kirk was erected in 1895.
