An event to mark the anniversary of the death of Edinburgh's most famous dog, Greyfriars Bobby, was held at his graveside in Greyfriars Kirkyard on the 14th of January 2013. Greyfriars Bobby was the dog who for 14 years guarded his master's grave in Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh.
The Rt Hon Donald Wilson, Lord Povost of Edinburgh, remarked: "It's a story about loyalty and love and it has captured the hearts of millions of people all over the world.
He's a great Edinburgh character and it's a great Edinburgh story so it's only right that we commemorate that today and on an ongoing annual basis."
To coincide with the event a new exhibition was launched in Central Library which explored Bobby's fascinating story.
