The Mystery of Edwin Drood was Charles Dickens' last novel and was left unfinished by the author's death in June 1870.
Grewgious is the guardian of Rosa Bud, the girl who has been betrothed to Edwin Drood since childhood. He shelters Rosa when she flees after Edwin goes missing and then investigates the young man's mysterious disappearance.
