The south side of the Lawnmarket in Edinburgh shows tenement buildings with shops on the ground level. Shops include William Clark pawnbroker, an ice-cream and sweet shop, Malloch map mounter, and a stationer and tobacconist. The Tolbooth Kirk can be seen at one end

Lawnmarket is the section of Edinburgh's Royal Mile running from its junction with Johnston Terrace to where it meets George IV Bridge. Regular markets were held in this area until the late 18th century.
