Title
Portrait of David Deuchar
Description
A portrait of Deuchar, used as a frontispiece to 'The Dances of Death' by John Holbein. This shows a bust portrait of the artist surrounded by the naked figures of Adam and Eve, standing between two pillars. Between them they hold the apple above Deuchar's head and above them in an archway sit three figures, believed to be the Fates. At the top of the picture is a skull and at the sides are hidden figures of a skeleton and the devil.
