Findhorn Place is situated in an area of Edinburgh known as the Grange. It is one of several streets in this area whose name is associated with the Dick Lauder family, being named after their estate in Morayshire.

The Grange is an area in the south of Edinburgh. It lies to the south of Grange Road and to the west of Ratcliffe Terrace. The area served, from the mid 12th century, as agricultural land associated with St Giles Kirk. It was bought in 1631 by William Dick. The area was substantially developed in the mid to late 19th century.
