Pope Benedict XVI visited the UK from September 16th -19th 2010. This was the first official Papal visit to the UK, taking in events in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Birmingham. He visited Edinburgh on the 16th September.
Pope Benedict XVI was born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger on 16 April 1927 in Marktl, Bavaria, Germany. He is the 265th Pope. He was elected on 19 April 2005 and celebrated his Papal Inauguration Mass on 24th April 2005.
