Many places in Japan were compared to famous Western places by foreign travellers when they explained to others who had never been to Japan. Mount Fuji was compared to Mount Teide in Tenerife, an island of Spain. This postcard is taken from a postcard album which contains postcards of both Mount Fuji and Mount Teide, so it's possible that the album owner might have been to both locations, or he could just be using the pictures to make the connection.
