Description
Two ladies talk to each other in an open fronted wooden building beside the water. They are both dressed in kimono patterned with flowers and wear their hair pinned up with hair ornaments (kanzashi). One lady is seated behind a Japanese zither (koto) and holds a fan. Her companion is dressed in a kimono decorated with Genji 'mon' (crests associated with the "Tale of Genji") and from her fingers hangs the carrying cord of a cricket cage.
