West End, Edinburgh
Description
At the west end of Princes Street in Edinburgh are two churches. The first St Johns Episcopal Church is distinguishable by its square tower and its many buttresses, the second St Cuthbert's sits behind and has a spire on its clock tower. In front of the churches the street is full of pedestrians and horse drawn vehicles. A large street lamp stands in the middle of the road. The buildings of Edinburgh Castle are visible on Castle Rock in the distance.

The term 'West End' refers in Edinburgh to an area surrounding the west end of Princes Street.
Princes Street is one of the main thoroughfares and shopping areas in Edinburgh. It was created as part of James Craig's New Town development and named in honour of George III's sons. With the exception of St John's Church there is no building on the southern side of Princes Street, allowing spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle and Old Town.
