Dunbar's Close is situated off the Canongate in Edinburgh's Royal Mile. It is named after David Dunbar who owned property on either side of the Close and was once famous for its Oyster Cellar. The close is now home to a garden laid out in the style of the seventeenth century which was originally designed by Sir Patrick Geddes but fell into disrepair. It was restored in the 1970s by the Mushroom Trust and handed over to the City of Edinburgh Council in 1978.
