Chambers Street in Edinburgh runs east from the southern end of George IV Bridge to South Bridge. It was built in 1871 under the 1867 Improvement Act, and named after the Lord Provost William Chambers. A statue of him stands in the centre of the street. Brown Square, Argyle Square, North College Street and Adam's Square were destroyed in the construction of Chambers Street.
