The 1990s, much like the 1980s saw an increase in the production of toys relating to television, film and popular music. The film Toy Story was first shown in 1996, triggering a huge demand for the Buzz Lightyear and Woody toys.
Technological based toys the Teletubbies won an award in 1996 for Toy of the Year. The show was created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport for Ragdoll Ltd. The Teletubbies were set in the imaginary world of Teletubbyland in an underground eco dome, which includes a vacuum cleaner that tidies up after them. JK Rowling released the first Harry potter book in 1997 with huge success and creating a new generation of devoted readers!
