& was taken over by our people as a Red X. Hospital 8 months ago. We are, at present, the only patients in the Hospital!! The situation is just perfect& the views almost beyond description, they are so very beautiful. On one side Turin, then all round N., E. and W., the high, rugged snow-capped peaks of the Italian Alps - prominent to the W. being Monte Vizzio. On the summit of one of the high peaks above Turin, stands La Superga - the tomb of the Italian Kings & v. grand it looks, standing out against the clear, vivid blue Italian sky. Turin is not interesting and v. dirty! It appears to be purely a commercial town. Here, near this Hospital, is being built a v. large aerodrome - to be the principal aerodrome of Italy. We move on shortly & orders have just come, "to stand to", for our departure - so away must this diary in to my haversack!

25th Feb: "The Train" between Turin and Rome.
We are just approaching Rome & very glad indeed will we all be to arrive there, for v.sick are we all of this stuffy, dirty old train! After leaving Turin yest: morning, we went through some very fine scenery - on the one side of us, the gorgeous, rugged, snowy-peaked Italian Alps; to the left a wide stretch of fresh green wood-land.
