Description
We walked along the River side, past the Palais de Justice & on to the Arc de Triomphe - from where we had a fine view of Paris. We then drove along Champs Elysées, past the Place de la Concorde & onto Le Jardin des Juileries. We wandered about in the Gardens & loved it all. After that we retraced ourselves back to our hotel. The Paris streets are full of interest, interest all the time & the shops are gaily attractive. Little wonder that Paris, attracts from all countries not only tourists, but also artists & scientists, the gay life, fine architecture & the beauty of the Gardens & Boulevards must draw all who love beauty, art & life. It's an enchanting spot, alas, that we must leave it all again so soon!

24th Feb: "Red X .Hospital." Turin.
We left Paris late last night & this morning, or rather yesterday, crossed the frontier, so now we are in "glorious, sunny Italy". We had quite a comfie journey from Paris, despite a v. packed train & little more than standing room for the poor "S.W."! We came south via Madon, Chambéry, St. Jean & Aix les Bains to Modane, the frontier town. We had lunch there between trains. After leaving Modane we went through the Mt Cenis tunnel & on through very magnificent scenery to Turin.
