I finished my last letter, just a couple of days before we got to Archangel - we arrived there on Sunday morning (the 10th) & are still here. But we expect to leave to-night & go direct to Odessa. The Serbian Legation want us to hurry south as quickly as possible,
a wire was waiting for Dr. Inglis, to that effect, when we reached here. We are not going to Petrograd now, sickening as all our mails will be there. Instead we go via Moscow & from there to Odessa. Plenty of work awaiting us "down south" we hear, so Dr. Inglis wants
to hurry on as quickly as possible.
Well - something of this district:-We reached Archangel about 11 o'cl: on Sunday morning. We got into the river early that morning & it was lovely sailing up - scenery very like Holland - i.e. very flat & windmills everywhere, but much more wooded than Holland, chiefly birch & fir trees. It is timber, timber everywhere here, flax and timber being the chief industries. We did not drop anchor at
