very pretty all along the coast of Antrim, fresh green-clad hills right down to the sea. We went round the N.E. corner & passed The Giant's Causeway, after that we went right in to the open - away west. We continued W-N.W & my word didn't we catch it when we got in to The Atlantic- "some" seas! We were escorted by a Destroyer "D.70" - but she was unable to weather the storm, so we left her behind us after we saw the last of Ireland - since then it has been nothing but sea & oh such a sea! I once, vainly boasted, I was a good sailor but "pride comes before a fall" - never can I say it again! The first two days pretty well bowled everyone over - it really was rough. I'm only now beginning to find my sea-legs - it has been so desperately cold too - to be expected, I suppose, as we are well "over" the Artic [Arctic] Circle. On the few occasions when I did succeed in crawling out of my bunk & staggering up on deck, I nearly froze! We got up quite close to
Iceland, but it was during the night, so we did
