The accompanying descriptive text in the volume begins as follows:
'This historical mansion, the residence of Sir Archibald Hope, Bart., is situated in the parish of Inveresk, a little to the east of the town of Musselburgh. It is near the river Esk, and about half a mile from the Firth of Forth'
The full text may be viewed from the volume which is held at the Edinburgh and Scottish Collection in Edinburgh Central Library.
Pinkie House now forms part of Loretto School, an independent boarding school.
