The accompanying descriptive text in the volume begins as follows:
'Ingliston House, the residence of Robert Stewart, Esq., is situated in the parish of Kirkliston, county of Midlothian, and is about six miles from the city of Edinburgh. It is a modern mansion, built in 1846 by George Mitchell Innes, Esq., of Bangour, to whom the estate then belonged. It is in the old Scottish baronial style of architecture, and was designed by Messers Brown and Wardrop, architects, Edinburgh.'
The full text may be viewed from the volume which is held at the Edinburgh and Scottish Collection in Edinburgh Central Library.
Ingliston House is the HQ of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society.
