The accompanying descriptive text in the volume begins as follows:
'This mansion, the residence of Sir Hew-Hamilton Dalrymple, called also North Berwick House, is situated in the parish of that name, about a mile south-east of North Berwick Law. It was erected in 1777, but was much altered and almost rebuilt by the present proprietor.'
The full text may be viewed from the volume which is held at the Edinburgh and Scottish Collection in Edinburgh Central Library.
Leuchie House is now a National Respite Centre.
