be done, is to put on emergency dressings, give injections & try to make the poor men as comfortable & easy, as possible & supply
them with drinks. They're all terribly "hashed up" & done, poor souls & oh such ghastly wounds, but they are so plucky.
Things have been very critical all day & at 11 a.m. orders came from headquarters to take down our tents & be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice. We spent a very strenuous afternoon packing the Hospital stores, taking down the tents & stripping our little home - now all is lonely, deserted & bare. The thunder of the guns is simply terrific & shells bursting in the distance.
I hear the ambulances, so must away. These transport girls are simply topping. Things are just getting a little bit too exciting methinks.
20th Wounded poured in all night & continued to come till ten o'clock this morning. Orders just come to evacuate at once - we have got the last of the wounded down to the rail-head & are now waiting for the cars to come back. The big lorry is to take all the camp equipment etc: down to Megidia [Medjidia], as we must "travel" light, with just the barest necessities. We are going in the cars - the lot who have
