Rheims Cathedral was the place where the Kings of France were crowned before the revolution. Although it was built to replace an earlier church which was destroyed by fire in 1211 the site has been home to christian worship since A.D 496. It was heavily damaged by bomb and bullets in the war but still stands today and is a major tourist attraction.
