Lime kilns, Balahulish [Ballachulish]
Description
Scene depicting the transportation of lime stone by horse and cart along a loch-side road from the quarry of Ballachulish. A kilted man directs the horse and cart with a long sick.Two boats lie in the Loch. One boat appears to be anchored at a small dock close to a house next to which a large fire is tended. Moutains rise up in the distance.

Ballachulish stands on the south side of Loch Leven. Its main industry was the quarrying of slate, which began in 1693 and ended in 1955.
