Trade Union Banner, Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers, reverse
Description
Red and blue damask silk banner with red silk border, painted design on both sides and a silk and cotton fringe. Reverse: Title scroll, UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL. Large central roundel with two carpenters, one making a mortise hole with a chisel and mallet, the other using a plane. Motto along lower edge of roundel, WE BELIEVE IN PEACE AND IN PEACE'S SWAY BUT ARE WELL PREPARED FOR THE EVIL DAY.
