The Sphinx and pyramids are arguably the most famous icons of ancient Egyptian civilisation. The male figures and camels in the foreground appear tiny compared to the massive monuments. It is interesting to note that at the time this was captured, the Sphinx was still not completely uncovered - a process that took over a hundred years to finish.
