The song sheet cover for The Gordon Highlanders Quadrille by an unknown artist contains military and Scottish motifs with gold lettering and rich colours to convey imperial success and pride. The cover illustration is divided up by two large flags one dedicated to the regiment and the union jack. The bottom quadrant contains the drums, bugles and bagpipes that accompanied the men on their marches. The upper quadrant contains the crest of Clan Gordon, with the stags head and underneath the motto 'Bydand' meaning 'Stay and Fight'.

At the centre of the flags are place names of famous battles, Waterloo, Candahar and Tel-El-Kebir where The Gordon Highlanders regiment went in and fought battle.

The illustration is balanced by the two thistles at the side and the large gold banner at the bottom wearing the title Quadrille. Underneath the banner is the note 'Respectfully inscribed to the Colonels and officers of the Battalions, by J. Wood'.
