This banner was carried by the Tinplate Workers in the demonstrations against Labour Law in the early 1870s. The Master and Servant Acts regulated contracts of employment and Conspiracy Law was used against Trade Unions. The Tinplate Worker is surrounded by the tin ware that is his trade. He will not mend the items, until the repressive laws are amended. The tinplate workers delighted in producing amusing banners with a play on words.
