Description

Camberwick Green Village Set in a rectangular cardboard box. The set contains four plastic figures including; Windy Miller, Mrs Honey, an elderly gentleman and a postman. The set also comes with four plastic white pigs, telephone box, post-box, belisha beacon and hanging sign for a Post Office.
The box has a transparent plastic front, opening at two ends. Inside is a cardboard backdrop, which is printed with coloured pictures of trees and distant buildings. Included in the set are four plastic buildings; A bakery, A fishmongers and two cottages. The exterior of the box is printed with coloured pictures of scenes from the television programme and manufacturer's marks.

The BBC aired thirteen 15-minute episodes of the animated series of Camberwick Green. The series was first aired in 1966 and was written and produced by Gordon Murray. Camberwick Green was one of the first TV series to be filmed in Technicolor. The series is set in the fictional village of Camberwick Green, Trumptonshire, where windmill owner Windy Miller and the other villagers overcome the problems of daily life. The opening of each episode would show a musical box which rotates whilst playing a song. The scene is accompanied by a narration: "Here is a box, a musical box, wound up and ready to play. But this box can hide a secret inside. Can you guess what is in it today?" The lid of the musical bow then opens and a puppet character central to a particular episodes storyline appears. The background to Camberwick Green then appears and the story begins.
