This was Edinburgh's first mobile and the first municiple mobile library in Scotland. It was built and bodied by Westfield Autocar Co. Ltd of Edinburgh for the sum of £1,836, this was used as a prototype for vehicles in the Lothians and elsewhere. The mobile van had a capacity for approximately 2,000 books (adult only), used the Browne issue system and visited a grand total of 10 sites. Mains power was used for interior lighting available from plug-in points on lampposts at each of the sites. Calor gas was used for heating.
