Title
The Fox and the Crane, illustrated page from 'Baby's Own Aesop'
Description
The page is divided and decorated with palmette motifs. On the left, a fox licks soup out of a high-rimmed plate and a crane watches on, napkin in one foot. The picture is mirrored on the right hand side, only here the crane is dining from a long-necked bottle, and the fox is licking the outside. The rhyme reads:
"The Fox and the Crane
You have heard how Sir Fox treated Crane:
With soup in a plate. When again
They dined, a long bottle
Just suited Crane's throttle;
And Sir Fox licked the outside in vain.
There are games that two can play at."
