The Prospect Terraces
The houses of Prospect Terrace, Edinburgh face each other over a steep slope. The row of tenements with their many chimney stacks stretches off into the distance. The grassy slope is divided up by metal railings and is populated by washing line poles and street lamps. Sheets are out to dry and rugs have been placed over the railings to air in the sunshine. A small boy can be seen entering a house on the left, above whose head two prams dangle precariously from the house's windows.
