Title
Princes Street looking east from the Scott monument
Description
A double image of the view along Princes Street to Calton Hill as seen from the Scott Monument, Edinburgh. Hotels and shops with awnings line the left-hand side of the street leading up to the dome of Register House. The right hand side has a series of wooden steps with different sizes of buildings behind it. There is a line of horse drawn taxicabs on the road as well as other horse drawn transportation. A very ornate street light can be seen in the foreground. Many of the monuments of Calton Hill can be seen in the background.

Princes Street is one of the main thoroughfares and shopping areas in Edinburgh. It was created as part of James Craig's New Town development and named in honour of George III's sons. With the exception of St John's Church there is no building on the southern side of Princes Street, allowing spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle and Old Town.
