Trinity Hospital

Description

Trinity Hospital, Edinburgh, sits in it's grounds behind a wall. Two men sit on the wall while another man stands on the pavement beside them. Close to them is a doorway in the wall. Next to the hospital is Trinity College Church. The kirk has large arched windows and has pinnacles rising from the roof. In the background is Calton Hill with the towers of the Calton Gaol's Governor's House and the telescopic tower of the Nelson Monument.

Trinity College Church was established in 1460 on a site close to where Waverly Station now stands. It was dismantled in 1848 by the North British Railway Company, and rebuilt twenty four years later in its present location on Jeffrey Street. The original church had an attached hospital.
