The accompanying descriptive text in the volume begins as follows:
'This mansion, the residence of James T. Wilson, Esqre., is situated on a rising ground about 400 yards north-west from the church of Restalrig. It was built by Alexander Duncan, W. S., in 1815-17 and enlarged a few years after by Sir Henry Duncan, second son of the first Lord Duncan, who succeeded to the property in right of his wife, Mr Duncan's grand-daughter.'

Restalrig House was demolished c1967.
