In 1961 two articulated trailer mobiles and one trailer unit were introduced. The body was built by Commercial Coachcraft of Edinburgh on a Scammell chassis. The original tractor power used was Karrier Bantam. A third articulated trailer and second Karrier Bantam were introduced in 1963. These trailers held some 2,500 books including a small collections of children's books made available for the first time. Staff amenities were greatly improved with the installation of a toilet and working area. All three trailers were in active service until 1979.
