Description
The sign reads, "Society for the Preservation of Duddingston Village. Patron: His Grace the Duke of Hamilton, K.T. Hereditary Keeper of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Bonnie Prince Charlie's House Appeal. In this house, B.P.C. held the council of war of the Battle of Prestonpans on 19th September 1744. Contributions towards its restoration as a dwelling house and Jacobite Museum should be taken to Lochside Cottage (at opposite end of village).

Prior to the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie held a council of war in small house on the cobbled Causeway of Duddingston Village, just outisde the city of Edinburgh. Through the years the house fell into disrepair until it was renovated in the mid 60's. It is now a private dwelling.
